Debit card spending grew 10.1% over the 12 months to July to $693.2 billion, in the first double-digit reading since late 2023. Credit managed 7.2%, to $477.7 billion. Its own rate edged up from 7.1%, but the gap to debit widened to 2.9 percentage points.
